About

Parent Organization: Executive Branch Of Student Government

The Jon Curtis Student Enrichment Fund (SEF) is a student-led initiative of Student Government and the Carolina Union that provides monthly $200-$600 grants to students to pursue personal, professional, and academic interests away from Carolina.  Our grants are awarded without restrictions based on major, course of study, or academic department. No other program on campus provides this level of flexibility.

The hallmark of the SEF is the Bring it Back program.  Our grants are an investment made with the expectation that, through their experiences, recipients will expand their knowledge, get inspired, and then share that knowledge and inspiration with their peers.

We have funded over 40 students and have gained substantial institutional support and donations from academic departments, the Carolina Union, Student Affairs, the Office of Scholarships and Student Aid, and other entities on campus, and we are hoping to expand our reach into the greater Chapel Hill community.

We will soon be piloting an "SEF Summer Scholars" program to provide a few larger (~$3,000) grants to students for summer enrichment experiences. Stay tuned for more information!
